Wiltshaw and Robinson floral ceramic Vases (later Carlton Ware Limited from Stoke). The mark on the base with a swallow and crown is for Wiltshaw and Robinson between 1894 and 1906. It was later to be renamed Carlton Ware limited in 1957. These two vases are a delightful delicate shape, with a waving gilded rim. There is a lot of detail and shading in the painting and the white detail is raised. They are hand painted. The flowers look like multi coloured convulvulus and are most possibly down to the imagination of the designer and the decoration is in a Rococo style. There are extra flowers on the neck and the base, and the reverse side has a simpler set of flowers as compared to the front. A lot of work has gone into these Carlton Ware vases and it shows. |
