Ruskin Art Pottery iridescent eggshell bowl dated 1911 Art Nouveau
|Ruskin Art Pottery iridescent eggshell bowl, dated 1911 Art Nouveau. At the start of the 20th Century the Ruskin Pottery developed all sorts of new glazes. These included red flambe, and high fired glazes to more subtle tones such as this iridescent blue. The bowl stands on a ring, on which the signature is impressed, and the potting is so fine, it can only be described as eggshell. The colour of this bowl is very beautiful. The iridescent glaze is like the multi colours in petrol. The iridescence is purple-mauve, and pink-blue, and is very unusual and Ruskin is a hit with collectors.
