William Comyns London silver belt and buckle 1901 352369 361872. This is a beautiful art nouveau silver belt. It is a wonderful spagetti junction of tendrils and leaves. The hallmarks are sometimes difficult to spot, and almost each piece has a WC in a oval with points, indicating that this is by Williams Comyns. Comyns manufactured from 1885 to 1930. The buckles have leopard head and lion passant (with crinkled edge) and an e with the correct shape for 1901. The buckles have 352369 on them. Something seems to have happened to some of the belt parts, as these have been re-hallmarked with an o (at an angle) indicating a date of 1969. The belt pieces have 361872. The belt width is 3.7 cm wide and the buckle 5.2 cm wide. It is gorgeous |
